Back in January, Egyptian artist Wael Shawky was awarded the Ernst Schering Foundation Art Award. The prize, which is awarded by the Ernst Schering Foundation in cooperation with KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, is endowed with a solo exhibition at KW, a catalog and a prize money of 10,000 Euros.

Shawky’s exhibit will open in December 2011. He was a featured artist in Lucky Number Seven at SITE Santa Fe in 2008.
