Coyote

The coyote left to the west

Chasing sun before she set

Ran over fields of frost

Frozen flight

Flecks of light

Turned long nose

Howled come follow me

Solitary was her plight

I have run

Across the plain

Followed you

To and fro

Up the mountains glacial peak

Touched the sky

On moonbeams streak

You hear me call

It is not a dream

Mine is the voice

That makes you sing

We’ve licked our pups

And our wounds

Open your throat,

Your heart,

Your mind,

Do not stifle

What you find.

A wonderful poem. I do like the Coyote. The coyote in Native American myth. The jokester and most wise of the forest animal.
